Welcome to the new BHI website. During its staged implementation, earlier reports not available on this site can be accessed on the old website.

BHI partnered with the Centre for Aboriginal Health to host an information booth at the 2022 Annual Conference of the National Association of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners (NAATSIHWP) in Sydney.

The conference theme, ‘Stronger together, now more than ever’, aligned with BHI’s work with the Centre for Aboriginal Health to understand and improve Aboriginal patients’ experiences of healthcare in NSW.

BHI Lead, Performance Reporting, Fiona Cunningham spoke to many of the 250 delegates over the two days of the conference. Attendees showed particular interest in the BHI Insights report, Aboriginal people’s experiences of hospital care, which used new analyses to explore the experiences of care of more than 8,000 Aboriginal people who had been admitted to a NSW public hospital over five years.

We also had the opportunity to promote the Adult Admitted Patient Survey, which in 2022 and 2023 has a questionnaire module containing questions identified as being important to Aboriginal patients.
